Additional Child Rate: There is a 20% discount for each additional sibling attending this center. The youngest child in each family will be charged the full rate. The exception to this is if an older child attends more days, then the older child will be charged the full rate and the younger child will receive the discounted rate. This discount also applies to Minimum Weekly Charges.

We no longer offer drop in care.

Transportation to and from school and extra curricular activities is included in the above listed rates.

Special Field Trip and Activity fees will be extra.

The Fun After School Time (F.A.S.T.) is a before and after school program that is under the direction of Sunshine School in Maquoketa.

It is held at Sunshine, 101 Creslane Avenue, Maquoketa. We offer transportation to and from all area schools: Cardinal Elementary, Briggs Elementary and Sacred Heart. Transportation is provided at no extra charge to you.

Rates for our F.A.S.T. program are included in the rate chart on page one of this Rate Information Handbook.

Late Start/Early Dismissal Days: On school days when there is a late start or early dismissal, Sunshine will be in session and pick-up or drop off children accordingly. Hourly charges apply.

Weather Delays/Early Closings: Sunshine will be open and keep the children or pick them up at school accordingly. Hourly charges apply.

No School Days and Winter/Spring Vacation: Daycare charges apply.

Please escort your child to his/her room. Do not drop your child off at the door.

Preschool children must be picked up immediately after classes. Daycare rates will apply for all children not picked up immediately from preschool.

Preschool payments are due on the 25th of the prior month (September 25th tuition due for October Preschool).

     

Child care payments: We encourage weekly payments. Bills are distributed to your child’s box every Monday. All payments are due in full on the first weekday of the following month; payment will be considered late after the 5th of the month at which time late charges will apply. Payments are due in the tuition payment box located below the sign in station. Please place checks in the payment box, please take cash to the office to obtain a receipt.

Additional Child Rate: The youngest child in each family will be charged the full rate. The exception to this is if an older child attends more days, then the older child will be charged the full rate and the younger child will receive the discounted rate. This discount also applies to Minimum Weekly Charges.

Minimum Charge:Your account will be charged the minimum weekly daycare charge if your child is absent or if his/her week’s total is less than the minimum charge. When you don’t use child care for any given week, the minimum rates are applied to maintain a spot for your child. The holding fee will not be refunded upon returning or if you decide not to return. Summers are included in this minimum weekly charge.

Vacations: Full-time children will have 10 vacation/sick days to use each calendar year (January 1-December 31) that you will not have to pay for service. If you wish to use a vacation/sick day, you must indicate that when you are canceling your child. You must cancel your child by 8:00 A.M.; otherwise, you will be charged for the day. Vacation/sick days must be used each calendar year; they do not carry over to the next year. You will start over each year with 10 days. Vacation days shall be used in one day increments. Written notice of intent to use vacations in a full week increment needs to be provided to your child’s caregiver on your attendance sheet the Wednesday prior to the week of vacation.

Late Charge: Parents or guardians must pick their children up and exit the building prior to 6:00 p.m. If you are late picking up your child, a late fee of $7.50 per 15 minutes (or fraction of) per child will be charged to your account. All programs are closed at 6:00 p.m. unless otherwise posted. Late fees must be paid when billed to remain eligible for services at this center.

Activity Fees: Special trips, field trips and activity fees will be charged extra.

Withdrawals: If you need to withdraw your child before a session is complete, you will need to provide written notification to the office two weeks prior to your child’s last day of attendance at the center. The fall session runs from September through May and the summer session runs from June through August.

Moving: Written notice of withdrawal is required. Minimum charge will be assessed. If we are not notified and your child no longer attends the center, your account will be charged the minimum for two weeks. If two weeks pass and we have not been notified, your child’s spot will be filled.

Returned check fee: A fee of $20.00 will be charged to your account for a “returned check”. Returned checks are required to be paid immediately upon notification of such to continue your eligibility of our services.

     
Attendance Sheets

Attendance sheets are an important communication tool that allows the Center to properly staff each room. All schedules are due WEDNESDAY for the following week of service. Blank schedules are kept at the front reception area and in your child’s room. Completed schedules should be given to your child’s caregiver on time. We cannot guarantee care for your child if attendance sheets are turned in late. We will not provide care to children for whom we have not received an attendance sheet by Friday of the week preceding service.

You are obligated to pay for the number of days that you contract schedule your child using the weekly attendance contracts. The schedule you turn in for your child, is what you will be charged for. You must indicate the hours that your child will be at the center on your calendars. For example, you cannot just mark each day with an “X.”

You will pay for the time that your child is contract scheduled or how many hours your child is in attendance, whichever is greater. For example, if you need care in addition to what you have contracted in any given week, if staff/child ratio allows for care and your child is here more than contracted, you will be charged the respective rate for care plus a $5.00 drop in fee for the non-contracted days of service. We schedule staff based on the times that families schedule their children to be here so this is important to the Center.

If you need to add your child for an additional day, you may do so based on availability in the classroom. However, you may not trade days for a missed day. For example, if your child is scheduled 4 days per week and your child is sick one of those days and you’d like to bring them on the 5th day, then you will pay for 5 days. If you use a vacation/sick day for the missed day, then you will only pay for 4 days. Vacation/Sick days apply to children that attend full-time only (see page 5 for additional information on vacation/sick days).
